The John and Nellie Baillet Scholarship Fund

John and Nellie Baillet Nursing Scholarship: This fund was established in 1981 by St. Vincent School of Nursing alumni Virginia Baillet Altschuller in memory of her parents, John and Nellie Baillet. The purpose is to award scholarship for undergraduate nursing education. The scholarship is dispensed by the alumni board. The alumni board of the association shall arrange for the selection of the recipient(s) and dispersal of the award(s). Monies will be dispersed from the interest only account. Amount up to $2,500/year to a family member/relative of St. Vincent graduate.

Criteria for Eligibility:

Applications to be submitted to the St. Vincent Alumni Vice President.
Send an addressed stamped envelope made out to the institution.
Scholarships are awarded for one academic year. For a renewal of scholarship, a new application and updated documents must be submitted.

THE SISTER CLARA COUSINEAU FUND

Sister Clara Cousineau Nursing Contact Hours Scholarship: The Sister Clara Cousineau Fund was established in 1986 by the St. Vincent School of Nursing Class of 1946 to honor the supervisor, mentor, and friend to the class. Sister Cousineau was born near Montreal, Canada in 1891. She entered the Grey Nun novitiate in 1914. She took her nursing courses in Manatoba, Canada and was assigned to St. Vincent’s Hospital in 1939. Sister fulfilled her nursing profession on night duty as a nursing supervisor, lab and x-ray technician, and night pharmacist. Sister died in Montreal, Canada in 1969 and was loved and respected by all.

The purpose of the Sister Clara Cousineau nursing contact hours scholarship is to award scholarship for registered nurse obtaining continuing education hours. The scholarship is dispensed by the alumni board. The alumni board of the association shall arrange for the selection of the recipient(s) and dispersal of the award(s). Monies will be dispersed from the consolidated account. Amount up to $100/year for non-alumni.

Scholarships are awarded for one academic year.

SISTER FLORINA DECARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Sister Florina DeCary Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Scholarship: This scholarship originally started as an endowment fund in 1935. In 1939, the by-laws were amended and it was changed to the DeCary Scholarship Fund in honor of the late Sister DeCary. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist graduates from St. Vincent School of Nursing pursing a degree for undergraduate or graduate nursing education. The scholarship is dispensed by the alumni board. The alumni board of the association shall arrange for the selection of the recipient(s) and dispersal of the award(s). Monies will be dispersed from the consolidated account. Amount up to $2,500/year for undergraduate nursing education. Amount up to $3,500/year for graduate nursing education.

THE SISTER EDITH HARTMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Sister Edith Hartman Scholarship Nursing Contact Hours Scholarship: This fund was originally set up as a memorial fund trust in 1961. Its purpose then, was to award two senior nurses, chosen by the St. Vincent School of Nursing faculty, who excelled in intensive care and coronary nursing. That trust was terminated in 1969. The purpose of the fund now is to assist registered nurses that are active in nursing with finances for short-term continuing educational studies.

Amount up to $500/year for St. Vincent School of Nursing Alumni paid members.

Criteria for Eligibility:

Include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Applications to be submitted to the St. Vincent Alumni Vice President.
Scholarships are awarded for one academic year.

ELEANOR M. WALSH ALUNMI CERTIFICATION FUND

Eleanor M. Walsh Alumni Certification: This fund was established in November, 1977, by the Alumni Association to honor Eleanor M. Walsh, alumna and first lay director of St. Vincent School of Nursing. The purpose of the Eleanor M. Walsh alumni certification scholarship is to award scholarship for St. Vincent alumni in obtaining certification. The scholarship is dispensed by the alumni board. The alumni board of the association shall arrange for the selection of the recipient(s) and dispersal of the award(s). Monies will be dispersed from the consolidated account. Amount up to $500/year for St. Vincent School of Nursing Alumni paid member.
